Motorcycle Camping you say? Sure I could get into that I love riding my bike ,and I enjoy camping ,sleeping on the bed roll watching the stars at night. The two go together well and both stir the adventurous nature in us. If you like the sound of motorcycle camping and think it's something you would like to give a try I suggest you plan a trip close to home to start with ,prepare for it and give it a try. You don't want to start out with a week long camping trip and find out the first day it isn't for you. In my younger days this was pretty simple ,roll some clothes and a diddy bag up inside my sleeping bag, roll it up inside a tarp, strap it to the bike and hit the road. Getting a little older makes motorcycle camping a little more difficult, Now you've got a tent and other necessities added to the mix and space is getting limited. There are some ways to solve this, especially today ,there are a lot of options for tents that can be packed small enough to carry on a bike. packing for motorcycle camping is not so much different than packing for hiking trips. You have limited space and you want to keep the weight to a minimum. Take only what you need, plan it out and make a list. It's better to take a few minutes to plan this than to get out in the middle of nowhere and not be prepared. One thing for me I've noticed is every time I went camping I always thought of something else I wanted to have with me. This got to be to the point that there was no longer any way of getting it all on the bike ,sure I could have left some of the things behind ,but after all we're doing this to have fun right. So my next logical step was to get a trailer to haul all the camping gear in. At first I wasn't crazy about the idea of pulling a trailer but there are some good points to it if you have a destination you plan on staying at a few days.Carrying your stuff in a trailer allows you to easily unhook your trailer at your destination and keep all of your gear secure and dry while you're out riding and exploring. One the other hand if your plan is to constantly be moving and the only thing you need is a place to sleep carry the bag and forget the trailer. Well this might not go over as easy if you carry your side kick with you.Adding Sherri to the mix complicated the hell out of things.
